There are multiple trees down in this section now. The crux rapid under the bridge now has a tree across it so should be approached with caution, it is possible to take out just above it and walk around. The standard portage around a log jam also still remains. The triple step drop below the portage also has new wood in it and requires portaging. Still worth running but just will a involve a bit more walking.

It’s been a great winter for our very international team this year, who have been working and paddling all over the world. All team members are now all in Pucón, getting stuck into what’s turning out to be a very busy season. We thought we’d take this opportunity to introduce you all to the Kayak Chile team 2016!

Ben May

Owner and trip leader.ben
Owner of Kayak Chile, trip leader, guide, co-author of “Whitewater Chile” and general badass, Ben has been paddling for 23 years and guiding for 15. Practising his skills on the tight ditches of Devon, England he soon moved on to the considerably larger rivers of Nepal and Chile. Ben lives full time in Chile although still has time for paddling trips back home in England, Norway and the East and West coast of the States in the last few years. He also spends some of the year in Uganda, managing Kayak the Nile, taking full advantage of paddling seasons worldwide.

danielDaniel Stuart Kyle

Head Guide
For the past few years Daniel has been teaching kayaking and guiding on the rivers of Colorado in the United States. After graduating from college this past year Daniel decided to travel to Chile to explore the rivers and steeper terrain of Pucón. Daniel is an extreme sports enthusiast loving anything that provides a new perspective such as rock climbing, skiing, mountain biking, highlining, rafting and of course, kayaking.

Shahid Wahabshahid

Guide
Starting paddling at the age of 10 in the UK, Shahid has had to opportunity to paddle and guide all over the UK and in various countries in Europe. Having honed his skills on the other side of the world, he came to Chile to explore the rivers and waterfalls that Chile is so famous for. He spent the winter running rescue workshops and safety kayaking in the Bio-bio region and now he’s spending the summer in Pucón as one of our guides to help you explore some of the gems that Chile has to offer.

Valerievalerie

Sales and Operations Manager

A passionate traveller, originally from Belgium, Valerie decided to settle in Pucón after falling in love with its surroundings. From teaching Spanish to skydiving, she learned to connect with people from all over the world, in the three languages she speaks: French, English and Spanish. She will do her best to make your experience in Kayak Chile as awesome as possible.

Nikolas Nitschacknikolas

Sales and Operations Manager

Originally from Germany, Nick is a cosmopolitan individual who speaks four languages (German, Spanish, English and Portuguese) fluently. Having studied Geography he has worked in many positions related to sustainability and nature preservation. His love for nature and outdoor sports has finally brought him to Pucón, the Chilean capital of adventure sports. Even though his abilities in kayaking are still limited he hopes to get on the river once in a while and will meanwhile take care of the operational management of Kayak Chile.
